Trying to decide where to go for your next tropical vacation? Jamaica is a fabulous place to visit and one you should really consider. With beautiful waters and a laid back atmosphere, you’re sure to enjoy this island.
I recommend flying into Montego Bay (MBJ) as it is the larger of the two airports and will have more flights available. The three most popular areas where you will find resorts are Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, & Negril.
Most resorts in Montego Bay are only 10 to 20 minutes from the airport, so you will be at your resort within minutes of arriving on the island. You will love the convenience and beautiful beaches in Montego Bay. The beautiful clear waters will have you itching to go snorkeling or swimming in the Caribbean Sea. Most beaches in this area are cove style beaches, so if long walks on the beach are important to you, this may not be your first choice. Instead, Negril may be a better option for you. 
Negril is about an hour and a half from Montego Bay. It is known for some of the best beaches, snorkeling, and diving on the island. Many of the resorts in this area are located on a beautiful 7 mile beach. It is a stunning area where you can enjoy a casual stroll along the beautiful shores and dig your feet into some of the softest sand while enjoying the stunning sunsets.
Ocho Rios, is located an hour and a half from the airport in the opposite direction of Negril, it is another beautiful part of Jamaica. If you enjoy waterfalls, Dunn’s River Falls is beautiful and one of the most popular excursion options in Jamaica! Among the other great excursions in this area is The Blue Hole. If you’re looking to enjoy some crystal clear waters, Catamaran cruises will fulfill that desire and more. Resorts in this area are absolutely gorgeous and are typically located on cove beaches.
In May of 2019 we were able to go to Jamaica with some of our best friends! I was able to tour a lot of resorts and we had a wonderful time exploring the island. One of my favorite parts was the catamaran sailing we went on. We had the chance to get in on this excursion and the water crystal clear 20 feet down to the ocean floor!
